2^nd Intake Selection Process

Meath Athletics has initiated a support program for developing athletes within the County.

The aim of this support program is to:

• Target athletes in the age group 16-24yrs (age as of 31st December 2015) who have committed to Athletics as their main sport
• Support such athletes in the development of their athletic career over the course of a three year programme.
• Support their own personal development
• Develop a core group of athletes that train together and are identified as part of a Meath Athletics Team

Meath Athletics are inviting applications from athletes who would benefit from this Development Program.

The Program involves:

• Completion of an application form and selection process through Interview to determine the current suitability of the athlete to the program.
• Initial Team Building exercise
• Monthly Training Sessions to include
• Training Programmes
• Advice with regard to Nutrition, Avoiding and Dealing with Injury, Sports Psychology
• Assistance with writing Personal Development Plan
• Maintenance of a Training Diary
• International Competition
• Commitment to Representing Meath in National Competitions
• Athletes must be available to compete in the National League.

This will form part of an ongoing development stategy and athletes who have not been successful in previous years' selection processes will have an opportunity to re-apply to the program in subsequent years. The number of places will be determined by the number of applications and events selected.

The Timetable for the 2^nd Intake Selection Process is:

• Introductory Meeting - Saturday 6^th September 2014 - 11.00am to 12.00pm - Claremont Stadium, Navan

The purpose of this meeting is to inform potential applicants about the selection process, adivse them on the completion of the application form, and introduce them to some of the athletes currently benefiting from the Development Program.

• Deadline for receipt of completed applications - Saturday 13^th September 2014
• Interview date with Applicants - Saturday 20^th September 2014
